Harvard Business Publishing logoMarketers are going ga-ga over marketing to users via their smartphones. Still a relatively new phenomenon, many marketing organizations are devoting an increasing amount of their budget to developing ads and promotions to be delivered mobilely [OK, I made that word up, but you know what I mean] to users of smartphones.

Fierce Competition by Ads Challenge the Game for Super Bowl Viewer Attention

February 6, 2013 by Ted Leave a Comment

Graphic of Super Bowl LogoSince this is a blog dedicated to marketing strategy, we would be remiss if we failed to comment on last week’s Super Bowl – which has become almost as important to advertisers as it is to the NFL. With advertisers spending an average of $4.0 million for a 30-second spot this year (oh yeah that’s an average, some paid more), you would expect we would see that best that marketers could muster. And, for the most part, you’d be right.

January 17, 2013 by Ted Leave a Comment

Census Bureau LogoThe U.S. Census Bureau released residential construction data for the month of December and the results provide further – and perhaps more convincing – proof that the housing market is showing consistent signs of improvement. Some analysts even call this a housing rebound as overall residential construction starts increased to 954,000 units or 12.1% over the revised November rate of 851,000 units.

There’s even more good news in this report that lends credibility to the housing rebound… [Read more…] about Residential Construction Rebound Getting More Convincing Based on December Data

January 10, 2013 by Ted Leave a Comment

Photo of CEA/CES logoEvery year at the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV, the organization releases new marketing data including forecasts about the future growth of the industry. According to the trade group, revenues for the electronics industry will reach $209.6 billion in 2013 – another new record and well over last years $204 billion level.

Even among participating companies in the CEA’s long-running marketing data collection program, there are often chuckles and whispered question marks about the accuracy of the aggregated forecasts. With one exception (2009), the CEA is famous for releasing optimistic growth forecasts that only go one way – up.

See what segments the CEA says you should be in, if you want big growth in 2013… [Read more…] about Ever-Optimistic, At CES 2013 the CEA Releases New Growth Estimates for Industry
