Multiple sources report – and I have confirmed – that stalwart screen maker Stewart Filmscreen has been acquired by Shackleton Equity Partners, a private equity company. The deal is said to have gone down just days ago and Stewart now has a new chairman, Mark Schelbert, who is also a managing director at Shackleton.

Smart Savant 3-Point Strategy to Beat Supply Chain Shortages and Fill Orders

April 21, 2022 by Ted Leave a Comment

Savant President JC Murphy

I’m not sure that anyone in Tech has done more than Strata-gee to report on the issue of the failing supply chain and its at times ruinous impact on our industry. My very first report on the supply chain – AKM Fire: 2020 was Almost Over, Then Disaster Struck Again – is the second most-read story I’ve ever written in my life. I had always assumed that the issue was so big that everyone was affected equally.

But then I discovered, almost by accident, that one company has a clever strategy to beat the shortages. That company is Savant, and their strategy is equal parts brilliant…and a bit insane.

See how Savant has mostly beaten the supply chain shortage that bedevils other brands…

New Epiphan Video Service Ups Quality for Hybrid Workers w/ Microsoft Teams

Epiphan Connect is a new service from Epiphan Video with Microsoft Teams

Epiphan Connect Delivers a Better Conferencing Experience

Epiphan Video announced today that it is launching a new cloud-based solution known as Epiphan Connect, bringing broadcast-quality live streaming capabilities to remote workers and hybrid workforce deployments via the increasingly ubiquitous Microsoft Teams. This development brings a performance upgrade to the normally experienced quality of video conferencing – a much relied upon tool of the pandemic era…and a much-maligned experience of often disappointing quality.

But there is more than just a quality upgrade in the streaming performance, there are tools to help create even more compelling content as well.

See how Epiphan Video & Microsoft Teams delivers more

As Companies Have Employees Return to Office, Is This the End of Remote Work?

April 6, 2022 by Ted Leave a Comment

Google hybrid workspace for return to office
An experimental hybrid workspace and meeting in progress at Google

What Will the Impact of This Trend Be on Custom Integration?

With COVID now seemingly in decline, on Monday Google employees (Googlers?) began the process of returning to work at the company’s various headquarter and other office locations around the country. The company is requiring they work at least three days a week in the office, continuing to work remotely for the other two.

Google is hardly alone in pulling employees back to the office, Apple employees return next week and most major companies have announced dates for office life to begin again. Will this kill remote work and have an impact on the custom integration business?

CEDIA Global President and CEO Daryl Friedman (L) looks positively terrified, doesn’t he? [Click to enlarge]

PART 1: Identifying Membership ‘Stress Points’

In a Zoom interview last week, I sought to take more of a measure of the man who now runs CEDIA, its new Global President and Chief Executive Officer Daryl Friedman. We first met, and I first told you about Friedman, back when his selection was first announced to the world just a little over 100 days ago. Friedman was in a series of round-robin press interviews and we only had a few minutes to interact. Now, 106 days later (at the time of this interview) he’s traveled the country, gotten his feet wet, and had much more depth of thoughts to share with Strata-gee readers.
