Portal announced today that it has secured a deal with Origin Acoustics which will allow dealers to select and purchase Origin products through its unique, brand-agnostic, proposal and purchasing web portal for integrators. The deal includes not only Origin products, but iRoom brand models as well. And Portal says it will be offering “exclusive access to the award winning Valet Amplifier system.”

I wrote the cover story, “Maintaining Customer Joy” (online as: “Maintaining Customer Joy Through Service Plans“), a detailed article about the benefits and challenges of implementing a recurring monthly revenue (RMR) program in an integration company. In that story, I interviewed four top integrators who all had successful RMR programs, about the trials and tribulations of establishing that program…and the benefits they derived from it.

ProSource Adds a Lucky 13 New Members
ProSource, one of the larger retail buying groups in the U.S. announced today that it has added 13 new members to their organization. As a multi-tiered group, these new additions were in two different groups – 12 dealers were added as custom integrator members, while one was added as an Associate PRO level member.

Josh.ai Launches New Hardware Solution – Josh Micro
Josh.ai, the high-end voice control solution that created quite a buzz at last year’s CEDIA show, announced today that it is launching its first hardware product, Josh Micro. Josh Micro includes a home control processor, far-field microphone array, and a superior user interface in a small package that “fits in the palm of your hand.” It also disconnects Josh.ai from the need to talk into your smartphone…or to a nearby Amazon Echo.

CEDIA Integrators Raise Funds for Houston Colleagues Hit by Harvey
A group of integrators, including Premier Group in Carmel, Indiana and Integration Controls in St. Louis, MO have come together to launch a fund-raising effort on YouCaring.com to benefit CEDIA integrators impacted by Harvey, the storm that has battered Houston and surrounding area over the last few days. Noting the “the flooding in Houston is nothing short of catastrophic,” the group are hoping to raise at least $20,000 to help affected integrators rebuild their businesses.

Allnet Distributing Moves into Minnesota

Crestron and Sonos Deepen Their Relationship
BREAKING NEWS
Crestron announced today that it is dramatically deepening its partnership with Sonos that was first revealed at last Fall’s CEDIA show. That partnership, which Strata-gee was the first to break the story on ahead of the 2016 CEDIA show, is now growing even stronger as Crestron is making the full line of Sonos products available directly to Crestron Technology Professionals through their normal purchasing system.
