Ube Successful in Getting Smart Dimmer Funded on Kickstarter

BREAKING NEWS

Ube logoUbe, a start-up company that combines the processing power of your mobile device with the capability of cloud-based software to create a new level of affordability in home automation products for the rest of us, has successfully completed a funding project on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. As a result, the company’s first product, a Wi-Fi-enabled smart dimmer, is fully funded and will be built and shipped in just a matter of a few months.

HES Announces 14 New Members

HES logoHome Entertainment Source announced today that it has added a total of fourteen new members during the time period of November 2012 to February 2013. A large class of new additions, the group says they had a strong finish for 2012 and kicked of 2013 with serious momentum. The buying group says they are now a total network of 500 dealers strong.

FCC to Test Ultra HDTV Broadcasts

FCC SealJust when you thought then dust had finally settled on the switch from analog to digital high-definition  television broadcast, and adding fuel to the heated debate over 4K Ultra HDTV, we learn that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this month approved a test of Europe’s OFDM-based DVB-T2 format. Ever-Optimistic, At CES 2013 the CEA Releases New Growth Estimates for Industry

Photo of CEA/CES logoEvery year at the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV, the organization releases new marketing data including forecasts about the future growth of the industry. According to the trade group, revenues for the electronics industry will reach $209.6 billion in 2013 – another new record and well over last years $204 billion level.

Even among participating companies in the CEA’s long-running marketing data collection program, there are often chuckles and whispered question marks about the accuracy of the aggregated forecasts. With one exception (2009), the CEA is famous for releasing optimistic growth forecasts that only go one way – up.
