AVAD LLC, a distributor that focuses on the custom integration channel, announced this week it is opening three new locations, as well as making key personnel moves. Part of an overall plan to change the business model of the organization, the company has, in essence, redrawn the map of its service area.

Industry Veteran Tom Jacoby is AVAD’s New CEO
News comes this 4th of July holiday week that Ingram Micro, itself just recently acquired by a Chinese shipping company, has sold off AVAD, LLC and AVAD Canada Ltd., to Kingswood Capital Management, a private equity company. In an announcement from Kingswood, the company says it has brought in a new upper management team – including a new CEO, industry veteran Tom Jacoby.

Allnet Distributing Opens Outlet in Indianapolis
Allnet Distributing, the large Chicago-based custom integration-focused distribution company founded by former AVAD principal Wally Whinna, announced that it has opened an outlet in Carmel, IN, an area just outside of Indianapolis. The new location will take over responsibility for servicing the Indiana market which was previously handled out of the firm’s Chicago-area headquarters facility in Elk Grove Village, IL.

AVAD Kicks Off a New Year of Vendopaloozas
AVAD, LLC, the custom integration-centric distribution division of Ingram Micro, announced today that it is launching its 2015 Vendopalooza program, the seventh year it has offered the traveling mini-trade show for dealers. AVAD Hit by Significant Layoffs Associated with Ingram Micro Restructuring

Wally Whinna’s New Catalyst AV Distributor Group: AVAD Part Two?
The industry is abuzz about the recently announced launch of a new national distributor group known as Catalyst AV. While the emergence of a new distributor group has been rumored for months, the formal announcement came out just last week. The genesis of the group, according to our sources, was a triumvirate of Wally Whinna (Chicago’s Allnet Distributing), Glen O’Brien (California’s Electronic Stockroom), and Mike Hench (Florida & Southeast’s Electronics Source).
Wally Whinna was one of the original partners of the Alliance of Value Added Distributors (AVAD), the most successful of the national distributor groups that was ultimately purchased by Ingram Micro several years ago. We spoke to Whinna about his latest venture.

Key Digital Selects AVAD as the Exclusive Distributor of Its Compass Control System
