Another Round of Sonos Layoffs at a Critical Moment; 12% of Staff is Cut

February 18, 2025 by Ted Leave a Comment

Consumer using Sonos products

Sonos has announced that it is launching yet another reorganization (it had one in 2024, and another one before that in 2023) with a “reduction in force” this time impacting 12% of its entire workforce. It seems remarkable that at a time when it continues to struggle to extricate itself from the La Brea tar pits it fell into via 2024’s app disaster, one of its first solutions is to let people go. More than 1 out of every 10 employees has been terminated to “…improve the Company’s operating model and cost structure to set the Company up for long-term success.”

For Nationwide Groups Azione, Oasys, and Ellipsys…What Will 2025 Bring?

January 23, 2025 by Ted Leave a Comment

Nationwide MG CI Groups Oasys, Azione Unlimited, and Ellipsys

Part 2 of My Conversation with Nationwide MG’s CI Division

Note to Reader: This post is the second part of a two-part series. In Part One, each of the directors of the three operating buying groups in Nationwide’s CI Division shared the details of their individual and group progress in 2024. You will want to read – or reread – that post first, as it helps Part Two make more sense.

Nationwide Marketing Group’s Custom Integration (CI) division made serious progress in 2024 as part of the organization’s ambitious Drive to 1,000 plan – seeking to build a collective CI membership of 1,000 dealers strong. In my previous post, the executives instrumental in achieving that progress – Andy Orozco (Nationwide’s Senior Vice President of Custom Integration), Patrick McCarthy (Executive Director, Azione Unlimited), Hank Alexander (Executive Director, Oasys Residential Technology Group), and Chris Whitley (Executive Director, Ellipsys Commercial Technology Group) – shared the highs and lows of building a business the likes of which we’ve never before seen. Now they share their plans for 2025…

Voxx Tells the SEC Its Latest Quarterly Report Will Be Late; Sets Severance for Key Execs

January 21, 2025 by Ted Leave a Comment

Voxx Int'l headquarters building

Voxx International Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX) has filed papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) informing them that the company will be late in filing its latest Quarterly Report. It has separately notified the SEC of new “Compensatory Arrangements” with certain officers of the company. The subject of the first filing is a regular Quarterly Earnings report – which is mandated by securities regulations. The delayed report Voxx is referring to is its normal earnings report for the quarter ending November 30, 2024.

The second filing – a Form 8-K – details certain changes to the employment agreements of CEO/President Pat Lavelle, Senior VP/COO/CFO Lorianne Shelton, and Senior VP/Treasurer Charles M. Stoehr.

After Year-and-a-Half Fight, All Claims are Dismissed in Snap One vs AVA

Snap One vs Josh.ai Lawsuit Continues

Strata-gee has learned that the U.S. District Court in the District of Utah has granted a Joint Motion to Dismiss all claims between Snap One, LLC (now part of Resideo) and AVA, Inc. The motion is the result of a negotiated settlement between the parties. This solves one-half of a lawsuit originally filed in August 2023 between Snap One, LLC (plaintiff) versus AVA, Inc. (defendant), and Josh.ai, Inc. (defendant).

Josh.ai is not part of this settlement so that case carries on.

Now Part of Bose, McIntosh Group Terminates Independent Sales Reps

January 15, 2025 by Ted 15 Comments

Image of McIntosh and Bose products

In the wake of its acquisition by Bose last November, I have learned that there has been a significant shift in McIntosh’s go-to-market strategy. Multiple sources are reporting that McIntosh Group has terminated all independent manufacturer sales representatives. This move appears to contradict statements made by a Bose executive during the original announcement of its acquisition of McIntosh in November.
