Kaleidescape announced this week an expansion of its movie server line with the new compact Terra 18TB. Positioned as a mid-level model for the brand, the Terra 18TB offers some sweet features that are sure to make it a popular option for movie fans.
Last Friday, Strata-gee broke the news that both Cheena Srinivasan and Michael Malcolm, co-founders of Kaleidescape, had left the company recently to pursue new opportunities. (A third co-founder, Dan Collens, left the company back in 2006.) Kaleidescape, the leading media server manufacturer in the upscale residential space, is an important supplier to many custom integrators, so this is a big change. Well-known industry executive Dave Donald has left Origin Acoustics where he was Vice President of Marketing to take a position at media center manufacturer Kaleidescape. Donald left Origin approximately two weeks ago and oddly, neither company has offered any type of official announcement. Azione Unlimited, the retail buying group, announced this week that they have added Kaleidescape to their roster of vendors supporting the organization. According to their vendor listing on the groups website, this now brings their roster to 40 vendors with direct relationships, as well as more available through distributor partnerships.
