AudioControl announced today the launch of the all-new Hyperion Series line of high-performance home theater products. This Hyperion Series is a completely updated line that builds upon AudioControl’s decades of experience in innovative high-performance audio system design, combined with sister company AVPro Edge’s cutting-edge video capabilities and system networking expertise.

The resulting redesigned Hyperion Series – a dramatic departure from past AudioControl designs – looks, feels, and I’m sure sounds like what might be one of the most contemporary high-performance home theater lines on the market today.

Housing Starts Had Nice December Bump, But Dropped in Full Year 2025

March 5, 2026 by Ted Leave a Comment

New home being constructed - a housing start

The government is normally a very reliable source of key economic data. Lately, however, it has been thrown into a bit of disarray ever since the first government shutdown, and now again into a second partial shutdown, causing a delay in the delivery of its reports. In any event, we now have December 2025 residential construction data, which shows an increase in housing starts compared to November. However, December’s starts remain below the rate set in December 2024. Starts for the full year of 2025 dropped for single-family and overall starts.

See more on the housing starts data for December…

Masimo Acquired by Danaher: Is This the Conclusion to an Epic Saga?

February 26, 2026 by Ted 2 Comments

Danaher Corp has acquired Masimo Corp

Four years ago, in February 2022, Masimo Corporation (Nasdaq: MASI) acquired the major audio company Sound United from Charlesbank Capital Partners in a transaction valued at $1.025 billion. That was a momentous time for Masimo and Sound United, which was about to embark on a crazy sequence of events that would see Masimo’s stock value crash, the company attempt to enter consumer health, the emergence of an activist investment group, a huge lawsuit ensue with Apple, a massive change in the governing Board, founder Joe Kiani quit (or was fired, depending on who you ask), a major cyberattack, and three years later, Sound United sold to Harman International Industries in a deal worth $350 million.

What was also momentous in February 2022 was that Strata-gee began its coverage of Masimo and took that wild and crazy ride along with them. But why am I writing about Masimo now? They’re back by popular demand…
