Closing of Fry’s Electronics Proves That Even Zombies Eventually Die

By now you most likely have heard that Fry’s Electronics, a large electronics retail chain that featured big-format store footprints and often dramatic designs in a variety of wacky themes, has officially closed their doors. Since almost all of their stores were west of the Mississippi River – 31 in total across nine states at its high water mark – most of those bemoaning this loss are westerners…especially Californians.

But the fact is this is hardly surprising news as Fry’s has been basically a zombie for at least two years now.

Bose to Shutter 119 Bose Stores in N. America, Europe, Japan & Australia

Bose Corp. announced earlier today that it will close a total of 119 Bose retail stores as a response to changing retail purchasing trends. The locations to be closed represents their entire retail footprint in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia.

Best Buy Reveals List of Stores to be Closed

Best Buy Store<April 18, 2012> On Monday, Best Buy revealed the specific store locations it planned to close as previously announced by former CEO Brian Dunn, just days before he unexpectedly resigned under potentially scandalous circumstances. In the wake of reporting disappointing financial results, Dunn had announced – among other things – that the company would shutter 50 of its big box superstores, but did not identify specifically which store locations would close.
