CES 2015 Opens with Great Fanfare, But No Real Surprises

January 6, 2015 by Ted 2 Comments

CES logoLike a carefully scripted political debate, Day 0 of CES (Day 1 for most of the press) opened with great fanfare…but offered no real surprises. Day 0 – officially known as Press Day – is an endless series of press conferences in which major manufacturers make their significant announcements and present their plans for 2015. And this year these press conferences, for the most part, followed their expected path – not even a Michael Bay meltdown emerged to spice it up a bit like last year!

See the major themes emerging from the Press Day presentations… [Read more…] about CES 2015 Opens with Great Fanfare, But No Real Surprises

June 26, 2014 by Ted Leave a Comment

Velodyne LogoRegular readers of Strata-gee know that we have recently covered news of layoffs and distribution changes by Velodyne – a long-time specialty industry player. Although we had made many attempts to get the company to comment prior to our posting of these stories, we were told that no company executives were available at that time.

CEDIA’s Seer was Right – Driverless Car Moves One Step Closer to Reality

September 27, 2012 by Ted Leave a Comment

Photo of Dr. Michio KakuAt the CEDIA Expo in Indianapolis earlier this month, the event’s keynote presentation was by the well-known physicist, author, and TV personality Michio Kaku who presented his rather dramatic view of the future – complete with a rash of technology predictions. Kaku’s presentation covered a lot of ground including military technology, the home of the future, the office of the future, future medical technology, and even the future of car technology.

Today, we found out that at least one of Kaku’s predictions is coming closer to reality, faster perhaps than even he imagined… [Read more…] about CEDIA’s Seer was Right – Driverless Car Moves One Step Closer to Reality
