I wrote last week about the sudden announcement from Masimo Corporation (Nasdaq: MASI) that director Bill Jellison had resigned his position on the board, a position he had held for less than a year. What was remarkable about the Masimo announcement was not so much because of what it said – rather, even more mysterious was what it didn’t say – with no clue offered as to why or under what circumstances this resignation occurred.

Now we know more…and it is big! Former director William “Bill” Jellison is one of two new directors at Medtronic plc (NYSE: MDT), one of Masimo’s biggest competitors in the pulse oximetry segment.

On Monday, in an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Masimo Corporation (Nasdaq: MASI) informed regulators that William Jellison, a member of the Masimo Board of Directors, has resigned his position as of that same day. No reason was offered as to why Jellison chose to leave his relatively new role with the company, presenting us all with a bit of a mystery.

Sound United Sale to Harman is Still on Track for Year-End

After markets closed on Tuesday, Masimo Corporation [Nasdaq: MASI] released its results for the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2025, and to my eyes, they looked really solid. Revenues grew by a respectable 8%, operating profits grew by 54%(!), operating margins improved by 520 basis points (that’s 5.2% more than last year), and earnings per share shot up an eye-popping 78%(!) What’s not to like?

Yet on Wednesday, the first trading day after these results were announced, the value of MASI shares actually dropped 12%! What?!?!

On Thursday, Premium Audio Company (PAC), a division of Voxx, which itself is now part of Gentex Corp., today formally acknowledged what has long been rumored: that it has lost its licensing deal with Pioneer Corporation for the rights to the Pioneer and Elite brands. Tariffs: New Business Survey Shows Companies are Already Feeling the Pain

July 9, 2025 by Ted Leave a Comment

Tariffs are disrupting international trade as shown by this ship

A new survey of U.S. companies by KPMG reports that they are already feeling the pain of the Administration’s new tariff program, which is still under negotiation with countries around the world. Even at current levels, U.S. businesses have been impacted, reporting they are experiencing declining gross margins…will be forced to further raise prices…are already being impacted by consumer pushback…have suffered sales declines from retaliatory tariff increases in other countries, and more.

Overall, it’s a pretty sobering look at the impact of tariffs on companies now, and a scary foretelling of what they anticipate in a darkened future.
