Strata-gee was the first media outlet to break the news that Jon Robbins was joining HTSA as Executive Director back in December 2015. At that time, the organization was facing many challenges. Jon, a former HTSA member himself with his retail/custom integration dealership HiFi House (Broomall, PA), seemed like the perfect fit to execute a return to the organization’s past role as a leading industry group.
The formal announcement from HTSA says that Robbins’ leaving is part of a “planned leadership transition designed to support the organization’s next phase of growth.” The group is launching a formal search process for its next “Managing Director.” It hopes to transition to a new leader by year-end, although the group says it will adjust its timeline if necessary to find the right person “rather than compromise on fit.”
Robbins Not Retiring
Interestingly, the announcement notes that Robbins is not retiring, as one might assume given the fact that the announcement gave no reason for this change at the helm. However, it says that Jon is looking to “continue his career in the industry, with the specifics of that next chapter still to be defined.”
In the meantime, Robbins will continue to work in his current role “full-time,” supporting HTSA, its members, and its vendors “through December 31.” If the timing works out, he will also be available to facilitate the onboarding and transition to a new Managing Director.

Group Remains Committed to Its Mission
HTSA remains fully committed to its core mission of supporting leading technology integrators and vendor partners, as well as to its growing collaboration with AVIXA and ProSource on Reside, the new co-located initiative at InfoComm that builds on the legacy of Lightapalooza. The Managing Director role will ensure the organization has the leadership capacity and structure to sustain and expand these efforts.
