Cambridge Audio seems to be single-handedly attempting to dispatch the intense summer heat by introducing two new products that are pretty darn cool – the Evo 150 SE Streaming Amplifier and the Melomania A100 true wireless earbuds. Both embody the traditional strengths of Cambridge Audio products with thoughtful component selection and matching, careful engineering, and extensive listening/tuning.
Learn more about Cambridge Audio Evo 150 SE and Melomania A100
Cambridge Audio is a designer and manufacturer of reasonably priced high-performance audio gear, as well as a merchant of said gear through select retailers or on its website. The company is renowned for its musically inspired designs, the musicality of its signature sound, and its meticulous attention to detail.
Today, the company announced two new models to expand its catalog: the Evo 150 SE Streaming Amplifier and the Melomania A100 True Wireless Earbuds.
A Special Version of an Award-Winning Product
The company says that its new Evo 150 SE is an enhanced special edition of its award-winning Evo 150 streaming amplifier – claiming that those enhancements take musicality to a whole new level. What’s been done to enhance performance, you ask?
Well, for one thing, the company says that Cambridge audio engineers worked closely with Hypex to develop the NCOREx “Tuned by Cambridge” Class D amplifier technology. NCOREx is both efficient and compact, while “maintaining the musical and sound quality that Cambridge Audio is known for. These remarkable modules deliver a solid 150 wpc (at 8Ω), more than enough power for virtually every discerning listener.
Optimized Signal Path and Component Matching
The company noted that this new SE edition has an all-new optimized signal path. This includes engineers spending hundreds of hours listening to different component combinations to achieve the ultimate performance. Select components – “the components that really matter” – have been upgraded, yielding a “more detailed, open, engaging and downright enjoyable” performance.
Included in the Evo 150 SE is the 4th generation of the company’s popular StreamMagic streaming platform. With StreamMagic, end users get direct streaming from Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Roon Ready, UPnP, and Internet Radio over Wi-fi or Ethernet.
There are tons of connectivity options, both wireless and wired, including HDMI ARC and a moving-magnet (MM) phono stage to facilitate listening to your vinyl collection.

Key Features Include:
- 2 x 150W power output (8 Ohms)
- Hypex NCOREx Class D amplification – officially “Tuned by Cambridge”
- StreamMagic Gen 4 streaming platform built in for effortless internet streaming from Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, Internet Radio and more

One of my favorite features is the 6.8″ color screen, which gives you the ability to cycle between a clock display, album artwork (and info on the current track), or large virtual VU meters.

A New Take on Taking Hi-Fi On the Go – Cambridge Audio Malomania A100 Earbuds

I think that this is interesting – the first thing that Cambridge Audio wants you to know about its newest high-performance earbuds is that they are powered by essentially the same Class AB amplifier technology that is employed in its popular CX and EX Series amplifiers. And that’s connected to what the company says is a “precision-tuned 10mm Neodymium driver” to deliver deeper lows, more detailed mids, and sparkling highs. This is truly Hi-Fi in your ear!
Like other Cambridge products, the Melomania A100 has been designed, engineered, and tuned at Melomania – the company’s London-based music venue and HQ. And it has been tuned by the same team behind the company’s other award-winning Hi-Fi gear.
No Scrimping on Advanced Technology
One thing’s for sure: the company didn’t scrimp on technology. Thanks to its dual-core 240MHz Qualcomm Kalimba DSP chip, the A100 offers support for high-performance technologies, like LDAC, aptX Lossless, and aptX Adaptive streaming. Cambridge also included its proprietary DynamEQ technology, which adjusts the curve based on volume level for consistent balance of sound.
Convenience features are impressive as well, including 11 hours of continuous playback (ANC off; 6.5 hours of playback with ANC on) on a single charge. The included charging case gives you 28 more hours of use. Plus, a quick 10-minute charge gives you a full 3 hours of playback.
A Great Blend of Performance and Convenience
The A100 utilizes Bluetooth 5.4 and Multipoint Connection to easily connect with two devices at one time. This is really convenient if you need to switch between a meeting on your phone and a recorded video on your tablet.
Also included is an upgraded Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system that utilizes a hybrid combination of Feed-Back and Feed-Forward technology. The A100 also packs a six-microphone array which effectively squashes background noise and makes sure your caller can hear you perfectly.

Key Features Include:
- Class AB amplification and custom-tuned 10mm drivers for the signature Cambridge Sound
- Our proprietary DynamEQ technology to keep music perfectly balanced, even at low volumes
- LDAC, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, AAC and SBC audio codecs supported
- Up to 39 hours of playback. 11 hours from earbuds on a single charge with ANC off – 6.5 hours with ANC on
- Fast charging gives up to 3 hours of playback from a 10-minute charge
- Control what you hear with Active Noise Cancellation for immersive sound. Included Transparency Mode to let some of the world in
- 7-band adjustable EQ with six pre-sets and the ability to save personalised presets for different genres or modes
- Bluetooth 5.4 Multipoint Connection
- Six-microphone array to isolate your voice from the background noise
