Crestron Launches Line of Battery-Powered Shades

Crestron line of Battery-Powered Shades

Crestron Electronics, one of the industry’s most powerful home automation brands, announced today that it has launched a new line of battery-powered custom shades. While Crestron has been in the shading business for quite some time now, this new line of battery-powered shades – to my mind at least – seems perfectly suited as a complement to their burgeoning Crestron Home residential automation ecosystem.

Crestron says their new battery-powered shade line natively and seamlessly integrates with their Crestron Home platform and offers homeowners a “simple but sophisticated shading experience.” With this addition, the company now offers a robust assortment of shading solutions that includes wired, wireless, and battery-powered shade options giving system designers maximum installation flexibility and homeowners the power of choice.

Also, integrators will benefit from a simplified system solution and easier integration into their Crestron automation systems – rather than dealing with multiple solutions from multiple suppliers and the extra headaches these more complicated system designs entail. As Crestron keeps expanding their Home ecosystem, everyone wins – integrators have simpler to design and install systems, while users get easier, more convenient, and more intuitive operation.

Crestron Home’s Simple ‘Scene’ Setup Gives Homeowners 1-Touch Simplicity of Control

Thanks to Crestron’s simplified process to set up “scenes,” homeowners can at the touch of a button “configure, schedule, or execute a shading scene that synchronizes shading throughout the house” with other Crestron Home products, such as its popular Horizon thermostat, or via third-party extensions, with almost any end product from most major brands.

The company has really thought through the design of this shade line. For example, they have simplified the process of changing the battery for ongoing client satisfaction throughout the life of the product. The company says that tucked into the fascia, a specially designed battery cartridge swings down offering full access for a quick and easy exchange. Once the battery is changed, the cartridge is simply snapped back up into the fascia – no disassembly required.

Battery-Powered Shades represent an important milestone for the Crestron Home platform, we are now able to offer a complete solution that meets all the needs of homwowners. Dealers no longer have to piecemeal a system together if there is a window located in the awkward location where wires can’t be run. The robust control options within Crestron Home coupled with our new fabric options make our entire shading portfolio an incredibly attractive solution for dealers and homeowers alike.”

John Clancy, Crestron’s Executive Vice President of Residential

This battery-powered shade line features whisper-quiet and energy-efficient QMT motors which offer great indoor range and performance. OK, so you are probably confident that this new line from Crestron will work well and is as bullet-proof as the rest of their lineup – but how do the shades look? No worries! The company has released an updated collection of over 400 different fabrics, including 240 new designer-lead fabric choices. This lineup will literally deliver a level of design and customization that can’t be beat by other solutions on the market. But even beyond that, Crestron’s custom-color match policy should seal the deal with even the pickiest of clients and designers.

Crestron Battery-Powered Shades are available with Architectural and Décor brackets. They also feature a three-year battery life and come with a lifetime warranty on the motors. Shipping in December, Crestron is hosting a special webinar for dealers on December 8, 2021 to provide even greater detail and offer advice on how dealers can prepare to add it to their portfolio.
