Just a little more than a year after being acquired by AVPro Global Holdings, leading residential and commercial custom integration brand RTI announced this week a dramatic expansion of its commercial amplifier lineup. This new series of DSP matrix amplifiers with accompanying zone controllers brings bulletproof technologies, expanded features, and helps RTI expand its beachhead in the commercial channel.

RTI’s expansion to its commercial amplifier lineup, known as the new RTI Commercial Amplifier Series, includes three models of multi-channel DSP Matrix Amplifiers – including a 2-channel model, 4-channel model, and 8-channel model – and a new wall-mounted PoE Zone Controller. These new models, the company says, are products that integrators “…can rely upon for commercial, residential, and entertainment applications.”
The new RTI Commercial Amplifier Series is built upon a solid technological foundation, including a UMAC™ Class D output circuitry design and a UREC™ universal switch-mode power supply with power factor correction. Each amplifier in the line is equally adept at powering…to scale…installations of conventional low-impedance (Lo-Z, 4Ω/8Ω) loudspeakers, OR high-impedance (Hi-Z, 70V/100V) transformer-coupled distributed audio speakers popular in commercial installations.
Dual Use Capability
That dual-use ability is a real convenience for integrators who are relieved of having to carry external transformers or separate product SKUs to use across mixed-topology projects. Power is rated at 125 watts per channel (Lo-Z) and 250 watts per channel (Hi-Z).
Each of the amplifier models is offered in both Dante and non-Dante versions. The company notes that the Dante-enabled versions (denoted by a “D” after the model number) integrate into existing professional IP audio networks with AES67 interoperability, which enables long-distance routing and daisy-chaining without the bulk and added cost of dedicated audio cabling.
Web-Based Interface for System Configuration
Another cool feature is that at setup, system configuration is handled through a browser-based interface accessible over wired Ethernet or built-in Wi-Fi. No dedicated software is necessary to get the job done.
Integrators get granular control over inputs, output zones, parametric EQ per channel, crossover, delay, limiter, polarity, signal routing, and GPIO-based external control from any networked device. Furthermore, presets can be locked, exported, and shared across projects, reducing commissioning time and ensuring consistent tuning.
A New Zone Controller Complements the Line
Also in the new RTI Commercial Amplifier Series is the new IWC controller, a PoE Zone Controller that provides control of volume and source selection when a control system is not present. Featuring an elegant design suitable for any room design, each Zone Controller mounts in a standard single-gang in-wall box. There is also a model of the Zone Controller suitable for international use.
The Zone Controller connects fully powered to the amplifier over a single Cat5e cable and any standard PoE switch.
