Marantz Offers Two New Components Boasting Audio Cred & A More Modern Usability Design

Marantz announced this week two new audio products that seek to advance its position in high-performance audio, along with modern usability designs to complement today’s user lifestyle. The new models include the Model 70 Integrated Amplifier (for international markets) and the CD 70 CD Player (for the U.S. market).

Learn about these new models from Marantz…

Marantz, part of Sound United, which itself is part of Harman International Industries – a Samsung-owned company – announced two new high-performance audio products this week, including a new integrated amplifier and CD player. Barely eight weeks since their last new product launch (new Denon X-Series AV Receivers), the company has hit 2026 running, with many (including me) anxiously waiting to see what’s next.

The official announcement came in the form of a global press announcement, which is a bit of a departure from usually market-optimized releases. While I see the efficiency of this model, it does open the door for potential confusion.

Why I’m Including the International Model in This Post

Why don’t I only write about the U.S. model? Because Strata-gee’s international readership is up dramatically this year. This fact alone suggests I should be smart about including international information where appropriate. So hopefully you’ll excuse me as I remind you frequently to help you (me?) remember that one of these new models is only for the U.S. market while the other is targeted only for international distribution (and not the U.S.).

The company says that the new Model 70 Integrated Amplifier and the new CD 70 Compact Disc Player build upon the success of its award-winning PM6007 and CD6007 models. This dynamic duo is designed to represent the next evolution of Marantz’s entry-level Hi-Fi offering. You might call this a level-set to a higher-performance entry-level solution that better fits into today’s user lifestyle.

Shared Strengths

Both new units feature Marantz’s full-width architecture, upgraded materials, and careful detailing. Both will be available in two finishes: Black and Silver-Gold. The company has cleverly put forth a design that will be both familiar to long-time Marantz fans thanks to its echo of the brand’s eternally elegant, approachable design, but also, thanks to its exceptionally clean, sleek, and contemporary look, will appeal to today’s “culture-driven consumers who see audio as an integral part of their home environment, not just a standalone system.”

Marantz also notes that, as you would expect, both of these new models bear the hallmark of the brand’s historical commitment to engineering products that deliver an elevated listening experience. Features such as optimized internal layouts, carefully selected and matched internal components, and vibration-resistant chassis are to be expected by those who know…and to be a delightful surprise to those who are buying their first Marantz product.

Marantz Model 70 Integrated Amplifier

Again, Marantz has targeted the Model 70 for the international market (not available in the U.S. market). This relatively compact package definitely punches above its weight-class, with a newly upgraded current-feedback Class A/B amplification circuit topology.

Delivering 50 watts per channel, it’s best to keep in mind that this is Marantz-grade 50 watts. Thanks to the inclusion of what the company says is an enhanced power supply (very important in the supply of power) and a larger toroidal transformer, the Model 70 has a robust current delivery capability that can put many higher-powered amplifiers to shame.

High-Performance Features

Other features include: a high-performance DAC (digital-to-analog converter) to elevate the Model 70’s digital playback performance…and…HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) discrete circuitry for superior reproduction as compared to the more common mass-produced op-amp design. And also, with physical media growing in popularity, it includes a high-quality MM (moving magnet) phono stage so you can connect your turntable and groove to your vinyl collection.

Also onboard is HDMI ARC (audio return channel) connectivity, which both elevates the performance of your TV audio while allowing the user to control the system volume with their typical TV remote control for greater convenience. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth (send & receive) w/aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC, and SBC codecs.

CD 70 Compact Disc Player

I mentioned earlier that physical media sales are increasing, and that includes CDs. More and more artists are opting to release their music, both historical catalogs and new current music on CD, as well as streaming. So for those consumers who are seeking the best-sounding performance for their past and future CD collections, Marantz offers the CD 70.

The CD 70 incorporates the same high-performance DAC as in the Model 70, along with the proprietary HDAM discrete circuitry. So the quality of sound and the Marantz sound signature are consistent across the models.

To add flexibility, the company has included a USB-A input on the front panel supporting the playback of high-resolution audio formats, such as FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF, and DSD. As I mentioned earlier, Marantz engineers took steps to ensure the minimization of performance-robbing noise and vibration…while ensuring faithful reproduction of the most nuanced musical detail. This engineering attention includes an upgraded power supply, double-layered chassis base, rigid isolation feet, and strategically deployed copper hardware.

Even the Headphone Amplifier is Discrete

Finally, the CD 70 also features a discrete headphone amplifier for those times you want to listen to your music more privately. And even though it is “just” a headphone amplifier, Marantz did not scrimp there either, employing its famous HDAM discrete technology, an adjustable gain control, and automatic headphone detection for a more engaging listening experience.

MODEL 70 and CD 70 perfectly capture what Marantz stands for today. They honor the legacy of two of our most successful and celebrated products while introducing a new level of design sophistication, performance and versatility. Each component is designed for music lovers who want authentic hi-fi performance, beautiful craftsmanship and effortless integration into their modern lifestyle. Together, they perfectly represent Marantz’s enduring commitment to musical excellence.
