Cambridge Audio Announces Spira, Your Vinyl Collection’s New Best Friend

October 14, 2026 by Ted Leave a Comment

The new Cambridge Audio Spira turntable

Today, London-based Cambridge Audio announced the launch of Spira, a turntable that perfectly blends high performance with flexible features to deliver an exceptional and memorable performance for vinyl lovers everywhere. It is more than simply a base-level turntable; in fact, Spira contains features that old-time classic rock fans will find comfortably familiar, while today’s younger generations will delight in discovering its provision for simple interfacing with more contemporary system configurations.

Learn all about the new Cambridge Audio Spira turntable…

As an ex-professional musician, one of the things that creates a real gravitational pull on me towards Cambridge Audio is its unabashed adherence to a “music first philosophy.” The company likes to say that every product it creates is “Made by Music” and designed to move, inspire, and bring listeners closer to the songs they love.

Spira is a worthy addition to the pantheon of Cambridge Audio products. It not only gets the carefully crafted core elements of the turntable right (more on this later), but it has also contemporized the concept to better fit into all types of systems in our always evolving modern world of technology.

Comes Out of the Box Ready to Rock

First up, Spira comes out of the box ready to rock. Cambridge has already mounted a high-quality Audio-Technica cartridge, fully pre-fitted and precisely aligned. At the music lover’s preference, an upgraded Audio-Technica 3600LE cartridge with an elliptical stylus is also available.

If the user is connecting to a quality Hi-Fi stereo system, simply connect the Spira’s phono outputs to the existing unit’s phono inputs. But wait, what if your existing setup does not have a built-in phono preamp? No worries, Cambridge has presciently included a high-quality phono preamp in the Spira itself! Simply flip the switch on the back of Spira to Line and connect to the existing system’s analog (RCA) audio line input, and you’re good to go. You are now using Spira’s internal phono preamp.

Comes with a Built-In Phono Preamp that is Bypassable to Upgrade to an External Phono Preamp

And here is one of the genius points of Spira. Since it comes with a phono preamp on-board, you can connect it to just about anything, including a pair of powered loudspeakers. Not only that, but Spira includes a built-in Bluetooth transmitter, which allows you to transmit the signal to just about any Bluetooth-enabled device…including wireless speakers or even a set of headphones.

Here you see the back panel of the black-finish Spira showing connection options. Spira comes with a phono preamp built-in, but you can bypass it to use with an external phono preamp. [Click to enlarge]

However, if the user owns a high-end separate phono preamplifier, simply switch the Output Level to Phono, which bypasses the built-in phono preamplifier to utilize the higher-grade user-supplied phono preamplifier. It’s a simple but ingenious accommodation that increases the usefulness of Spira.

Carefully Crafted Core Elements of a Turntable

About those carefully crafted core elements of the turntable – Spira includes a high-precision aluminium alloy tonearm with an adjustable counterweight and an adjustable anti-skate control to ensure accurate tracking of any vinyl record. A beautifully lacquered wood plinth houses the motor that belt-drives a sub-platter and a 1.8kg (3.97lbs) engineered steel platter to improve rotational stability and lower vibration.

Topping the platter is a felt mat that the company says “controls resonance and stops records from slipping mid-play.” Also at play are a ground connector and vibration-absorbing feet that work together to keep hum and rumble out of the performance.

Available in Five Finish Options to Fit Any Home Decor

Rotational speed is set via a simple dial that electronically selects between 33 and 45 rpm. Every turntable includes a hinged, smoked dust cover to protect records and stylus from dust and other hazards.

Cambridge Audio offers Spira in five attractively saturated colors, including Black, White, Blue, Green, and Orange finishes that match the finish options of the company’s L/R active stereo speakers. With so many options, one is sure to fit into just about any home decor.

Pricing and Availability

Spira, from Cambridge Audio, is available beginning today, October 14, 2026, at cambridgeaudio.com and at all authorized retailers. The company has set Spira pricing with an MSRP of $499 / £329 / €349 / HK$3480.
