Marantz Launches Series 2 of Its Popular CINEMA Line of AV Receivers

August 6, 2026 by Ted Leave a Comment

New Marantz CINEMA 50 Series 2 AVR

Marantz, a Sound United brand, and both of which are part of Harman International Industries, Inc., which itself is part of Samsung Electronics, announced today that it has launched a new series of the popular Cinema Series AV receivers (AVRs). This new “Series 2” builds upon the technologies and techniques of the original series, as well as moves the ball down the field with several new advancements.

Learn all about the new Marantz Cinema Series 2 AVRs

The new CINEMA Series 2 models – the next generation of its award-winning home theater receivers – includes the CINEMA 50 Series 2, CINEMA 60 Series 2, and CINEMA 70s Series 2. The company notes that these new models continue with many of the popular foundational capabilities of the original series, including acclaimed performance, elegant design, and superior ease of use. But Series 2 versions bring “meaningful advances in sound quality, connectivity, gaming compatibility and installation flexibility.”

For example, each CINEMA Series 2 model utilizes a new 32-bit, eight-channel DAC that delivers dedicated simultaneous high-resolution conversion across every channel. The benefit of this new DAC is “greater precision, improved imaging, enhanced dynamic expression and more coherent surround performance.” Simultaneous processing also reduces timing errors while simplifying the signal path.

Easy Upgrade to Dirac Live™

Marantz also offers an easy optional upgrade to the popular Dirac Live™ Room Correction technology, now available on an ever-expanding number of Marantz models, including the CINEMA 60 Series 2 and the CINEMA 70s Series 2, which join the CINEMA 50 Series 2 to offer this feature. By the way, the CINEMA 50 Series 2 supports the full Dirac ecosystem, including Room Correction, Bass Control and Active Room Treatment (ART).

Consumers who choose to acquire a CINEMA Series 2 AVR will be able to add Low Latency LE Audio via a future firmware update. This technology dramatically reduces listening delay with compatible headphones and mobile devices. Series 2 models also feature an upgraded HEOS multi-room wireless capability that is said to be more responsive.

New, Upgraded Web Control 2.0

The company has also upgraded command and control via an all-new Web Control 2.0 capability. This technology allows users to easily control and configure the system from any smartphone, tablet, or computer without being required to use on-screen TV menus during installation.

And for integrators, Series 2 models offer HDMI Diagnostics 2.0 within CI mode for automated HDMI performance verification. This technology also offers handy advanced troubleshooting capabilities that help to streamline installation and reduce setup time.

The full-featured CINEMA 50 Series 2 offers a couple of additional features. First, it comes with Dolby Atmos Channel Expander, a technology that is said to enhance immersion by upmixing and routing audio to all connected speakers during Dolby Atmos playback. The second added feature is Center Bi-Amp Mode, which, when utilized, is said to enhance dialogue clarity and is viewed as complementary when used in conjunction with Bi-Amp mode for compatible left and right speakers.

For the Gamers Out There

For the gamers in your family (or the inner gamer in YOUR head), these Series 2 CINEMA AVRs support 1440p video pass-through and also offers AMD FreeSync™ compatibility. This means smoother gameplay, lower latency, and tear-free visuals for compatible PCs and gaming consoles.

There is, of course, much, much more to each of these models, but this gives you a taste of what these new Series 2 CINEMA AVRs can bring into your home. There is a solution for every theater in the Marantz lineup.
