Azione Unlimited announced that it has elected Savant Senior Vice President of Services & Customer Operations Angela Larson to its advisory board. Unique to the buying group scene, Azione’s advisory board consists of five dealer members and five vendor members who all work together with the goal of “creating, expanding, and implementing the organization’s mission.”

Actually, Strata-gee was the first to reveal that Larson had joined the Azione board in a summary of that event – which I attended – posted earlier this month. The group’s existing board selected Larson with a vote taken during the group’s spring conference known as The Didactic Dovecote in the Desert in Arizona at the beginning of this month. I was there when President Richard Glikes announced Larson’s appointment to the whole Azione membership.
As I reported, Larson will be taking the board seat vacated by the departing Alex Camara of AudioControl. Camara, who recently sold AudioControl to Aamp is exiting the company and by extension the Azione advisory board.
Larson’s appointment, the organization says, takes effect immediately.

Typical of most integrator buying groups are boards of directors consisting solely of executives from select member companies. In some cases, these boards actually direct the activities and priorities of the management of the group. But in this case with Azione, while this board serves only in an advisory capacity, they take the unusual step of incorporating their supporting vendor community as part of the process of helping to provide or suggest guidance for the overall organization. That fact in and of itself makes them unique.
The Azione board is made up of the smartest vendors and dealers, and Angie is a welcomed addition.
