Readers Deliver Another Record Year for Strata-gee in 2024!

December 28, 2024 by Ted 4 Comments

Strata-gee world readership

Readers came through again, delivering another record year for Strata-gee in 2024! Not only is it another all-time record in terms of website content consumption, it’s the third such record in a row! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support of readers who continue to select Strata-gee.com as a primary resource for industry news and views. Considering that 2024 was a tough year for most media, I guarantee you that I will not to take your support for granted.

Media, overall, is finding itself roiled by dynamic and challenging market changes, resulting in a consolidation not only among newspaper and magazine companies but also among many online media properties, as well. All signs point to a continuation of this trend as the way readers consume content remains a moving target.

For this reason, I can never take for granted that more and more tech industry executives are gravitating towards Strata-gee – with its unique tell-it-like-it-is content style. Rich in detail with more deep-dive content that gives the reader more of the story – Strata-gee’s fresh take…based on deeper research and multiple sources…helps the reader develop a more complete understanding of the sometimes competing issues surrounding a story.

Another Year of Growth in Strata-gee Content Consumption

Strata-gee annual content consumption
Year-over-year content consumption on Strata-gee.com

In this screen capture from our stats package shown above, you see a graph showing the annual content consumption on Strata-gee in 2022 – 2024. As I write this, there are still a few days to go in December 2024, so that bar on the right is likely to continue to climb. Even so, the data are clear – Strata-gee has set a new all-time record in online pageviews once again in 2024!

Strata-gee readers are engaged deeply in our content. In another stat screenshot below, you see that the average session duration recently was over 5 minutes long. The internet average for session duration is 2-3 minutes, so Strata-gee readers are staying longer and reading more.

International Distribution is Spreading, As Is Content Consumption

For a few years now, I’ve noticed our international reader base growing. My first tip-off was from subscriptions which were coming in from literally around the world. As you can see in the map below, Strata-gee’s international influence continues to grow. Strata-gee’s content is regularly consumed in Europe, Asia, Russia, China, and more. In fact, our numbers have increased even in Iceland and Greenland!

Strata-gee world wide readership

On the map graphic above, the level of Strata-gee readership is indicated by the intensity of the blue shading. You can also see the listing of the top 7 countries. I have watched India, Australia, and China grow dramatically in both subscriptions and readership of our content. By the way, for the curious, the remaining three countries that round out our Top Ten are the Netherlands, France, and Japan.

This is the Key…The Key Metric That Is!

I hope you can forgive a post here that seems uncharacteristically self-centered…sort of like I’m bragging. But in looking at the data for 2024, I have to admit that I am a bit proud. To continue to achieve growth – even in a difficult industry environment…and a difficult media environment – kind of blows my mind. Below you’ll see a screenshot from Google Analytics showing key metrics for Strata-gee in 2024. One thing to note for those of you not steeped in Google Analytics, any result displayed in green is good!

Key Strata-gee metrics from 2024: Note that this data is for the period of July 1 – December 27, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. The reason for this is that Google Analytics changed its system from Universal Analytics to GA4 in July 1, 2023. Because GA4 uses a different data system, the first-half data in 2023 is not easily available for an apples-to-apples comparison

Each of these key metrics – in new users…in active users…in views – shows solid, double-digit percentage growth. I couldn’t ask for more…

Thank You!!

So as we head on to 2025, I want to thank all the readers, subscribers, sponsors, and supporters of Strata-gee who have made this continued growth possible. On to 2025!!

Happy New Year!!

Ted
