Kaleidescape 18TB movie server

Kaleidescape announced this week an expansion of its movie server line with the new compact Terra 18TB. Positioned as a mid-level model for the brand, the Terra 18TB offers some sweet features that are sure to make it a popular option for movie fans.

I recently broke the news that two of Kaleidescape’s co-founders had recently exited the company, but new CEO Tayloe Stansbury is said to be hyper-focused on the needs and wants of the company’s movie-loving customers who want the highest performance quality in their home theaters. With that in mind, the company launches the new Terra 18TB movie server – a mid-level, more affordable solution.

Clearly, the company is broadening its assortment in order to better serve the needs of more customers.

Commited to Meeting Customer Needs

Kaleidescape is committed to offering products in a vast array of storage sizes, showing our ongoing effort to meet a wide range of Kaleidescape customer needs. The new Kaleidescape compact Terra 18TB can store up to 300 4K movies with download speeds equivalent to the larger Kaleidescape four-drive Terra servers. With 50% more storage than the recently introduced Kaleidescape compact Terra 12TB, it’s the perfect mid-level addition to our Terra product line.”

The company says that the compact Terra 18TB has the power to “download feature-length 4K movies in as little as 10 minutes on gigabit internet” while supporting up to five simultaneous 4K movie playbacks on different projectors and TVs around the home. The Terra lineup includes the compact Terra 12TB, Terra 24TB, Terra 48TB, and Terra 72TB…and now the mid-level compact Terra 18TB.

Terra is Foundation of Multi-Room Movie Player System

Kaleidescape owners can easily increase their storage as their movie assortment grows by simply adding another movie server.

The company says their Terra line is the foundation of a multi-room Kaleidescape Strato movie player system, designed “from the ground up to deliver an unparalleled private cinema experience.” With a similar profile to a Strato C movie player, the Terra 18TB can be mounted side-by-side within just a 1U space utilizing an available custom rack mount.

The Terra 18TB movie server is priced at $9,995. Strato C players are priced at $2,995.
