AVA Cinema Remote Now Shipping After Production Glitch Resolved

When it comes to a potentially ground-breaking remote control, good things come to those who wait. But the wait is over and AVA, Inc. has announced it is now shipping its remarkable Cinema Remote, an innovative new remote control design first previewed to dealers at CEDIA Expo 2023. They may have had to wait longer than anticipated due to a manufacturing glitch, but now that is resolved and the product is flowing to the field.

See why this AVA shipping news is newsworthy…

I named AVA’s Cinema Remote as a PROMISING NEWCOMER of CEDIA Expo 2023 as it not only looked good, but it felt good in your hands too. More importantly, this new Cinema Remote offered fresh new concepts for an inspired control interface that helps users reach their desired outcome more easily with features such as a dynamic keypad, tactile feedback, and a seemingly perfect blend between interactive touchscreen and physical button interface.

I was drawn to the AVA booth at Expo 2023 because it was almost always busy. A buzz raced around the floor and several integrators told me about this exciting new remote design. I asked each of them the same thing, did you buy it? Everyone who came to me on this did order remotes – most choosing a small quantity to test out before a more significant commitment could be made.

A Lot of Excitement and Pre-Orders at Expo 2023

There was a lot of excitement at the September Expo and I suspect the pre-orders for the Cinema Remote were significant. But then, in December, around the time that dealers had been expecting to receive their samples to test out – bad news came instead.

As I reported, the company revealed to dealers that its first batch of remotes failed to meet the company’s very high standards. After launching an investigation including a product teardown and inspection, the company discovered that a contract supplier had substituted an inferior component. The company scrapped the shipment (OUCH!) and ordered new remotes with the correct component as originally specified.

This, of course, caused a massive delay – but that is now behind them.

Aiming for Perfection

We aimed for perfection with these new devices. The positive response from our dealers affirms our dedication to quality. The AVA Cinema Remote, in particular, embodies our vision for the future of home control. Now, as we begin shipping, we’re excited for customers to experience these innovations firsthand. This moment isn’t just about overcoming production hurdles; it’s a leap into a future where smart home technology is truly intuitive and accessible. We thank the the installers who have been on our side in anticipation of this moment. The wait is over, and we think you’re going to love this new lineup of products.

Not Just an Interface, It’s Own System

For many companies out there, a remote control is nothing more than just another system interface. But for AVA, the Cinema Remote is its own system, designed to tame and simplify complex residential automation solutions. As the company put is, the goal for the entire AVA system is to “simplif[y] the complexity of modern AV systems, making advanced home theater setups feel effortless to control.”

Our commitment to innovation, exemplified by the AVA Cinema Remote and supported by AVA OS and AVA Nano Brain, marks this release as a milestone for AVA and the smart home industry. The enthusiasm from our dealers and customers has been overwhelming. We’re not just shipping products; we’re delivering a new standard of luxury and convenience in home automation.

Patrick Domenig, AVA Chief Operating Officer
